How do I clear my browser's cache?


It's true, a clogged cache can slow down and even stop your browser. Who wants that? Not us. Let's get to work clearing your cache. Which browser are you using? Instructions are included below for each of these:

• Internet Explorer 5.x for Windows
  
• Internet Explorer 6.x for Windows
  
• Firefox 2.x for Windows or Mac
  
• Safari 3 for Mac
  
• Netscape 7.x for Windows
  

If you're running a browser or version different from these, your browser's "Help" menu leads you to its method of cache-clearing.

Internet Explorer 5.x for Windows

1. In the Tools menu, choose Internet Options. This opens the "Internet Options" window.
   
2. Under "Temporary Internet Files", click Delete Files.
   
3. Click OK when prompted.
   
4. Under "History", click Clear History.
   
5. Click OK when prompted.
   
6. Click the OK at the bottom of the Internet Options window.
   
7. Close and re-start Internet Explorer.
   

Internet Explorer 6.x for Windows

1. In the Tools menu, click Internet Options.
   
2. Under "Temporary Internet Files", click Delete Files. This opens the "Delete Files" window.
   
3. Here, either click OK, or first check the box marked "Delete all offline content" if you'd like to do that as well…and then click OK.
   
4. Under "History", click Clear History. This opens an "Are you sure…" box. Click Yes.
   
5. Click OK at the bottom of the "Internet Options" window.
   
6. Close and re-start Internet Explorer.
   

Firefox 2.x for Windows or Mac

1. For Windows or Mac, click Tools and select Clear Private Data.
   
2. In the window that opens, select whichever items you'd like to clear. When you're done, click Clear Private Data Now.
   

Safari 3 for Mac

1. In the Safari menu, click Empty Cache. That's it!
   
2. To also clear the History, click the History menu and click Clear History (at the bottom).
   

Netscape 7.x for Windows

1. In the Edit menu, select Preferences. This opens the "Preferences" window.
   
2. Down the left side of this window, you'll see a list of options. Click the  next to "Advanced." This expands the "Advanced" menu.
   
3. Within the expanded "Advanced" menu, click Cache.
   
4. Click Clear Cache.
   
5. Click OK at the bottom of the "Preferences" window.
   
6. Close and re-start Netscape.
